My art process is to make marks, play with color and allow my choice of theme to be informed by what builds up on the canvas in a series of layers, combined with experiences, memories or dreams of the moment. Multiple layers of mark making seep through to the final layer.

Description:
The gift of stillness and inner peace during 2024 gave me time to process the grief of losing my mother. I used the art of flow process to sit with my grief, reconnect with memories, and represent mum in spirit form.
Morning Pot of Tea

Description:
This painting was a much looser art of flow process and celebrates my morning ritual of tea drinking. Every fine day I sit outside in my flower garden and enjoy the beauty of nature and through this practice, find my way to inner peace.

Description:
My study and canvas art began to bleed together in 2026. The research undertaken to connect with my Australian aboriginal ancestry flowed into my daily thoughts and dreams. My painting offered a place for connection and processing of relationships, memories, dreams and messages. Key characters were Red Chief (which informed the choice of Waratah flowers) and spiritual totems (the crow).

Description:
My sister-in-law Ros came to visit and watched fascinated as I played with marks and ink, built different layers, and changed my canvas daily. Inspiration for the final version of this piece came from the flowers Ros would pick fresh for me everyday. The flowers would go in a small vase that accompanied the pot of tea tray she would make me early each morning.
